Train dimensions

Dudes, we were looking at some standards for train dimensions and I thought I'd share them. While there's some variation, we've decided to settle on some only slightly modified from the Japanese Shinkansen. That system has train cars of 25m/82' in length, and about 10' wide. We're going with 8 cars in length, giving a total length of 200m/656'. Trains of this length in France carry about 600 people. It appears that all high speed trains run on standard gauge track, which is about 4'-8" wide; measured from the inside of each rail, as shown in the diagram below. Hope some of that helps!

Cohesion

I thought it might be nice to begin to get together some cohesion of materials throughout the studio, especially for the final presentation; to begin that process I've drawn up a sketch map of the US with our respective cities highlighted and a simplified version of the proposed high speed rail network from the image James posted earlier:

I think there's a lot of other studio-wide stuff we could generate, including some nicely presented info on high speed trains, existing stations and networks worldwide, technical station requirements, actual US rail proposals and schedules, etc etc. What do you guys think?
